  • Where to Get a Water Softener and Reverse Osmosis System in Central Indiana (Installation, Cost & What to Expect)

Where to Get a Water Softener and Reverse Osmosis System in Central Indiana (Installation, Cost & What to Expect)

If you live in Central Indiana, you’ve probably heard people talk about hard water or water filtration, but it’s not always clear what you actually need, or where to even start.

I’ll be honest, this wasn’t something I thought much about until I moved into our current home one year ago and started noticing a few things that felt off.

I started dealing with more skin irritation than usual, and my hair just wasn’t behaving the same either. At our old house (which had a water softener), I could go 5–6 days without washing my hair. After moving? That quickly turned into washing every 2-3 days.

I also realized I was relying heavily on a basic water filter pitcher which I know doesn’t actually filter anything but the taste. And since I drink about 3 “Big Dumb Water Bottles” a day, I was constantly refilling the pitcher (which got old fast).

So I decided it was time to actually look into what was going on with our water and what we could do about it.

A Behind-the-Scenes Look at a Local Water Company

I recently had the chance to partner with US Water Systems, which is based in Plainfield, Indiana just west of Indianapolis. This isn’t just an online company or a middleman. They have a full facility, a real team, and assemble their systems right here in Indy!

They’re family-owned and operated, and you can really tell. I met members of the team, and they just had that close-knit, local business feel that you don’t always get anymore.

Getting to see everything in person made me feel a lot more confident about the decision to move forward. I love that I can support a local business while also protecting my home’s water.

Why I Decided to Upgrade Our Home Water System

After learning more about how different systems work, I ended up installing:

P.S. If you use the links above, you’ll save 5% on your system!

This decision came down to a few things:

    • I drink a lot of water every day and wanted to feel more confident in it
    • I didn’t love relying on a basic filter pitcher (and constantly refilling it 🙃)
    • I wanted to cut back on buying plastic water bottles
    • I had started noticing hard water buildup and changes in my skin and hair

If you’ve ever dealt with cloudy shower glass or buildup on faucets, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

What the Installation Process Was Like

I’m not going to lie, this process had a slight hiccup. When we opened up the closet where the water softener was going to go, we realized there had been some water damage from that lovely Indiana spring rain we’ve been having. So that had to be fixed before anything could be installed.

Once that was handled, everything moved forward pretty smoothly.

We worked with Blue Cord Plumbing (Curtis was amazing!) for the water softener installation. US Water Systems has plenty of great online videos to show you how to DIY the install, but I highly recommend going with a professional for this part.

The reverse osmosis system and Pulsar UV fits right under the sink, which was way more compact than I expected. We were able to install this ourselves with the help of US Water Systems’ trusty YouTube tutorials!

And I have to mention this because it was something I was so nervous about: We had to drill into our countertop for the RO faucet 😅

I genuinely thought something might go wrong and our entire countertop would get cracked, but we had Performance Stoneworks come out and they handled it in about 30 seconds. It was so quick and easy and made me feel so much better knowing my countertops were safe.

    What I’ve Noticed Since Installing

Since installing these systems, I’ve noticed:

    • Less visible buildup on our shower glass and fixtures
    • My skin feels softer after showering
    • My hair feels more manageable again
    • And not having to refill a water pitcher constantly has been life-changing. If you know, you know 😂

One moment that really stood out to me was my first shower after the water softener was installed. My skin immediately felt smoother and almost silky.

What Does a Reverse Osmosis System Actually Do?

If you’re new to this (like I was), here’s a simple breakdown:

A reverse osmosis system is designed to filter water through multiple stages to reduce certain impurities and improve taste.

The RO system I installed also includes a UV component, which acts as an additional treatment step that can be helpful during situations like boil water advisories.

As always, results can vary depending on your home’s water quality, which is why it’s helpful to talk with a professional before choosing a system.

Do You Need a Water Softener in Central Indiana?

A lot of homes in Central Indiana deal with hard water to some degree.

Hard water can lead to things like:

    • Mineral buildup on fixtures
    • Spots on dishes or glass
    • More frequent cleaning
    • Changes in how your skin and hair feel

A water softener works by reducing the minerals that cause that buildup, which can help improve how water feels and how your home functions day-to-day.

    How Much Does It Cost?

The cost of a water filtration or softening system can vary quite a bit depending on:

    • The size of your home
    • Your plumbing setup
    • The type of system you choose

Because of that, it’s best to get a personalized recommendation based on your home and needs. You can see all the options available at US Water Systems here, or see the actual products I ordered (and their costs) below:

P.S. If you use the links above, you’ll save 5% on your system!

Why I Recommend Working with US Water Systems

One of the biggest takeaways from this whole experience was the value of working with a local company.

Being able to visit their facility, meet the team, ask questions in person, and know exactly where your system is coming from adds a level of trust that’s hard to get otherwise.

Final Thoughts: Is It Worth It?

If you’re someone who drinks a lot of water at home, has noticed buildup or hard water issues, wants to reduce plastic waste, or just wants to feel more confident in your home setup, it’s definitely worth looking into your options.

For me, this was about making a practical, long-term investment in our home that just makes everyday life feel a little better knowing I can be confident in the water I’m drinking and using on my skin.

    Want to Learn More?

If you’re local to Central Indiana, I’d recommend checking out US Water Systems and learning what might make sense for your home.

Even just understanding your water a little better is a great place to start.

  • Must Try Sushi in Central Indiana

Must Try Sushi in Central Indiana

Contrary to a Facebook comment I got a couple weeks ago claiming Indianapolis gets its sushi from the city sewers (yes, I’m calling you out, Jim!!), we really do have some awesome sushi spots in Indy and Central Indiana.

One thing you may notice with this particular Indy sushi list, however, is that many of the spots below are more of a “restaurant that also has sushi” rather than an honest-to-goodness sushi restaurant. While I am a sushi fiend, my husband… is not. So, I have made sure to note the restaurants below that are “Land-Lover Approved,” meaning it is a restaurant that also caters to our friends who prefer their food to come from above sea level.

Here are just a few sushi spots (or spots with sushi) I have tried recently in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas:

Prefer a video visual? Click the names of each restaurant for video guides.

    SALT 📍 Multiple Locations

SALT is a seafood restaurant that has a handful of crowd-pleasing sushi rolls on the menu. During our last “girl dinner,” we got about 5 different appetizers here and shared them all, which I highly recommend doing! And you can definitely share the large Birkin cocktail or mocktail while you’re at it. 😉

Salt on Mass 📍 505 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

Salt Carmel at City Center 📍 11 City Center Dr Suite 101, Carmel, Indiana (featured in the video)

Salt at Geist 📍 10158 Brooks School Rd, Fishers, Indiana

FortyFive Degrees 📍 765 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

    *Land-Lover Approved

FortyFive Degrees on Mass Ave is such a vibe! The colors and flavors are always vibrant and unique. They also always have great specials going on like Sushi Sundays (half off rolls 3-10pm), Wednesday half-price wine bottles, Thursday half-price cocktails, and a $10 lunch special!

    Harmony Steakhouse 📍 Multiple Locations

    *Land-Lover Approved

Not only do they have amazing sushi, but the hibachi is sooooo good! I can’t wait to go back in the summer because they have some hibachi grill tables outside on the patio. Plus, this is one of the best lunch specials in Indy: 2 Rolls + Soup or Salad for $17 or 3 Rolls + Soup or Salad for $21.

Downtown Indy 📍 5145 Noggle Way, Indianapolis, Indiana (featured in the video)

Greenwood 📍 220 N Meridian St, Indianapolis, Indiana

Whitestown 📍 6124 Mills Drive, Whitestown, Indiana

COMING SOON! 📍 1030 W Main St, Carmel, Indiana

    1933 Lounge 📍 Multiple Locations

    *Land-Lover Approved

This is deeeefffinitely one of those “restaurants that also have sushi,” but I love getting a little of that famous St. Elmo’s cocktail sauce on my sushi roll. Perfect place for those of us with partners who prefer steak over seafood!

Downtown Indy 📍 127 S Illinois St, Indianapolis, Indiana

Carmel Indiana 📍 175 S Rangeline Rd Suite 100, Carmel, Indiana (featured in the video)

Fishers Indiana 📍 9707 District N Dr Suite 1120, Fishers, Indiana

Blue Sushi Sake Grill 📍 2721 E 86th St STE 100, Indianapolis, Indiana

*Land-Lover Approved (and this one is actually our favorite!)

I fell in love with Blue Sushi while I lived in Lexington for college. So, to find out they had a location in Indianapolis was an “angels singing” moment for me. Their happy hour sushi specials are LEGIT with reduced price sushi, apps, cocktails, and more ALL DAY every Sunday + open to 6:30pm the rest of the week.

    Sushi Yama 📍 6020 E 82nd St Suite LL03, Indianapolis, Indiana

ALL. YOU. CAN. EAT. SUSHI. Yup, you heard that right. What I love about this AYCE sushi spot in Indy is that the sushi rolls, appetizers, salad bar, and ice cream are all included in the one price. The dinner price is $35.95 and lunch is $22.95.

Hanami Sushi + Sake Bar 📍 703 Veterans Wy, Carmel, Indiana

This sushi is FIRE… literally. Now, not all the sushi rolls come out on a bed of flames, but this one does! And I love that I can taste the fiery grill flavor on this roll. This is that place in Carmel, Indiana with all the pretty bright pink trees out front! Perfect for girls’ night out or a little solo date action.

Noah Grant’s Grill House + Oyster Bar 📍 91 S Main St, Zionsville, Indiana

Another great happy hour deal at Noah Grant’s in Zionsville, Indiana! $10 sushi rolls, cocktails, and oysters 4-5pm Tuesday-Saturday when you sit at the bar. Keep an eye on this one when Devour Indy rolls around. They always have a really good deal during those events!

Chiba 📍 228 Park St, Westfield, Indiana

I really love Chiba for their patio dining (click the video to see what I mean). And now that it is getting warmer out, this is definitely a place to add to your list! Come on a Wednesday for all night happy hour deals!

The Courthouse Club 📍 110 N 9th St, Noblesville, Indiana

    *Land-Lover Approved

One of the meals that altered my brain chemistry in 2025. The sushi, the views, and all the other food we tried here are absolutely worth the drive up to Noblesville from Indy. Make a day of it and explore Noblesville afterward! They have adorable shops, clothing boutiques, and the cutest book cafe ever.

The Boathouse Kitchen + Swan Dive 📍 409 W Jackson St, Cicero, Indiana

    *Land-Lover Approved

I already have a plan to come back here this summer because it was THAT good. Plus, the views are unmatched. A warm Indiana summer day with a sushi roll, live music, and cocktails in hand while watching the sunset over the water? Say less.

I hope you enjoy this Indianapolis sushi guide! If you didn’t see your favorite Indy sushi spot, let me know what I should try next by leaving a comment on this post or on my Instagram. If you have a recommendation for the best sushi in Indianapolis or Central Indiana, I would LOVE to hear it!

Here are a few sushi restaurants I have on my list for this year:

Five Bucks Sushi & Boba 📍 883 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana (yes, the sushi rolls are really only $5!)

Ichiban Sushi Bar 📍 8265 US 31 S, Indianapolis, Indiana

Yokohama 📍 67 N Madison Ave, Greenwood, Indiana (P.S. They have a sushi-making class I’m dying to try!)

Green Ginger 📍 1675 W Smith Valley Rd E1, Greenwood, Indiana

If you’re not super into sushi, no worries! Check out these lists for a roundup of Indiana burgers, Indy pizza you have to try, or you can view my top restaurant recommendations in Indianapolis on my 2025 Restaurant Guide.

  • Top Date Night Restaurants in Indianapolis

Top Date Night Restaurants in Indianapolis

Welcome to your new favorite date night spot! I’ll be your host, Sondra, and this evening’s special is “Restaurants in Indy that are almost as sexy as your date.” Restaurants that make you dig in the back of your closet for that dress you never get to wear. Restaurants that give you an excuse to wear that fancy cologne you got last Christmas. Restaurants that definitely require a reservation, so you should probably get on that (don’t say I didn’t warn you!).

If you’re looking for something a little more casual, might I recommend my list for Indy’s best burgers or great pizza spots in Central Indiana? Or if you’re more in the mood for entertainment and activity, allow me to show you a list of Indy date night ideas that are sure to get her heart racing!

And if you’re still with me for fine dining in Indianapolis, then sit back, relax as the Where Is Sondra blog proudly presents… your dinner. 😉

P.S. Tap the name of the restaurants to get a video guide to each spot.

    Bocca 📍 122 E 22nd St, Indianapolis, Indiana

You might be tired of my recommending Bocca (because you know it’s in almost every one of my lists), but it truly has it all! My favorite patio in Indy (don’t tell the others) for those warm summer nights, a romantic interior with delectable Italian favorites, AND they also have a speakeasy in the basement.

    1933 Lounge 📍 127 S Illinois St, Indianapolis, Indiana

You might notice that a particular Indianapolis steakhouse isn’t featured on this list (cough… St. Elmo’s… cough). No shade at all! I just prefer this Huse Culinary concept a bit more. SORRY DON’T YELL AT ME!! And the downtown location of 1933 is more of a speakeasy-style lounge above St. Elmo’s, so you can still get the classic shrimp cocktail in a romantic, intimate setting. Or, if you really want a full steak dinner at the iconic Downtown Indianapolis restaurant, just come up to 1933 Lounge after to enjoy a nightcap.

Full disclosure: The video is featuring the Carmel, Indiana location, but the Downtown Indy location is gorgeous too!

    Union 50 📍 620 N East St, Indianapolis, Indiana

Funny story. I actually came to Union 50 before my junior prom with a group of friends. I’m talking full prom dresses and tuxedos, so there is really no shame in going full glam here! A few things I love about Union 50 in my adult years, however, are the proximity to Mass Ave, seasonal menu selections, and extensive cocktail and wine lists!

The Fountain Room 📍  830 Massachusetts Ave Suite 1480, Indianapolis, Indiana

Voted as one of America’s 50 Most Beautiful Restaurants, The Fountain Room in the Bottleworks District of Downtown Indy is serving up steak, seafood, and comforting classics. Plus, their cocktail menu always has something unique and strong to pair with a starter like their Brie Brulee. It truly is such a beautiful space sure to impress your date!

SALT on Mass 📍  505 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

She wants sushi, he wants steak. She wants to drink out of a glass purse, he wants nautical-inspired decor… Okay, maybe I’m getting too deep in this. Anyway, enter SALT. The only place in Indy (that I know of) where your date can eat seafood, steak, and oysters while sipping a cocktail out of a glass Birkin. And yes, the food is just as amazing as it looks.

Full disclosure: The video is featuring the Carmel, Indiana location, but the Downtown Indy location is gorgeous too!

RH Indianapolis 📍 4501 N Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, Indiana

I want to say upfront that this one isn’t super generous with their portion sizes, but the views make up for it. This would be perfect for a lighter dinner, grabbing a glass of wine, and walking around the estate on a warm night. If your pookie is looking absolutely fire, got a little dressed up, and wore their uncomfortable shoes, take them here for pictures! Your date needs a new Facebook profile picture (they told me!).

Capri 📍 2602 Ruth Dr, Indianapolis, Indiana

This one isn’t in Downtown Indy, but it is definitely a place to check out if your date loves Italian food, white tablecloth service, and limoncello! I’ve eaten here several times and I’m always impressed. Plus the moody lighting, stonework details, and romantic interior make me feel like I’ve left Indiana and am now in some sort of Italian villa.

Indy Date Night Restaurants on my 2026 List!

As lucky as I am to have gone to some of the most gorgeous Indy restaurants with my date, there are a few places that I haven’t been able to try yet. Below are just a few restaurants in Indy that I haven’t personally tried, but have come highly recommended in the @whereissondra comment section that seem to have allllll the romantic vibes to impress your date!

    Tinker Street 📍 402 E 16th St, Indianapolis, Indiana

Bluebeard 📍 653 Virginia Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

BOHDI 📍 922 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

Vida 📍 601 E New York St, Indianapolis, Indiana (note that this one does come with a high price tag and a 4-6 Course Tasting menu!)

    Mama Carolla’s 📍 1031 E 54th St, Indianapolis, Indiana

I hope you’ve enjoyed this ~fancy~ dinner date guide to Indianapolis! If you didn’t see your favorite Indy date night spot, let me know what I should try next by leaving a comment on this post or on my Instagram. • Best Pizza in Indianapolis + Central Indiana

Best Pizza in Indianapolis + Central Indiana

Did you know 100% of Indiana residents say pizza is their favorite food? Okay, I made that up, but I have to imagine it’s pretty close to that considering the amount of amazing pizza restaurants in Indy and Indiana! I know our city has some strong opinions on the best pizza in Indianapolis, so if you don’t see your favorite on this list, don’t fret! I am looking for new spots to try in 2026. Leave a comment telling me where to go next!

Here are just a few pizza spots I have tried recently in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas:

Prefer a video visual? Click the names of each restaurant for video guides.

    DOWNTOWN INDIANAPOLIS PIZZA

Bonk 📍 1125 E Brookside Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

If you’ve heard of the Fowling Warehouse on Mass Ave where you can play a version of football/cornhole/bowling, then you might have heard the news that they are now selling Bonk Pizza for players! So if you’re looking for a night out in Indy idea that involves food AND an activity, definitely try this place out!

Shin Dig 📍 1351 Roosevelt Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

Shin Dig is one of Cunningham Restaurant Group’s newest concepts, and they’re already serving some of my favorite pies in the city. We tried the Butcher’s Pie, Bama BBQ Chicken, and Woodstock pizzas. Each one was unique and delicious. I am also obsessed with their outdoor patio. They have ping pong, cornhole, board games, fire pits, and more! Shin Dig was voted the Best Pizza in Indianapolis at the Indianapolis Pizza Fest.

Bazbeaux 📍 329 Massachusetts Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana

Bazbeaux in downtown Indy is a classic. Whether you’re out bar-hopping on Mass Ave, exploring local shops, or just in the mood for solid pizza, Bazbeaux is here for you. Bazbeaux also has locations in Broad Ripple and Carmel, Indiana, but I tried the one on Mass Ave.

    Gather 22 📍 22 E 22nd St, Indianapolis, Indiana

Gather 22 in the Fall Creek Place neighborhood of Indy is ALWAYS the vibe! This is one of my favorite places to take out-of-town visitors because the food is great, they have outdoor seating (including cute little swings), and occasional events. They serve Byrne’s Grilled Pizza which also has their own location in Broad Ripple.

    NORTH INDIANAPOLIS PIZZA SPOTS

Napolese 📍 The Fashion Mall at Keystone 8702, Keystone Crossing, Indianapolis, Indiana

New favorite date night spot in Indy? Napolese in the Keystone Mall has great food, amazing pizza, and all the romantic vibes. Grab some Italian at this must-visit Indianapolis restaurant, then wander the Keystone Mall after. I love a little window shopping 😉 Napolese also has a location in Broad Ripple, Indianapolis.

Big Lug Canteen 📍 1435 E 86th St, Indianapolis, Indiana

One of the best biergartens in Indy! Plus, their pizza is awesome. I can’t wait to come back to this one every year when the weather warms up. Big Lug Canteen in Indianapolis is right on the Monon Trail. So, you can stop in for a little pizza and beer and enjoy a nice stroll afterward.

3UP Rooftop Lounge 📍 201 W Main St, Carmel, Indiana

I might be cheating with this one because it is definitely more of a “flatbread” situation, but the Pig & Fig at 3UP in Carmel, Indiana is definitely a must-try! Especially if you are enjoying it on their gorgeous rooftop.

    WEST INDIANAPOLIS PIZZA RESTAURANTS

Daredevil 📍 1151 N Main St, Indianapolis, Indiana

Daredevil also has a location in the Ironworks District just north of Indianapolis. This location is in Speedway right down the street from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway! So any Indy 500 fans planning a trip to Indy this May should check this one out! Their beer garden/outdoor patio is super nice too.

The Prewitt 📍 121 W Main St 1st floor, Plainfield, Indiana

Once again another flatbread situation at The Prewitt Restaurant + Lounge in Plainfield, Indiana. However, I definitely wanted to include it for a little west side representation. 🤭 Plus, they use Smoking Goose meats on this flatbread which is a local charcuterie supplier in Indy that you already know I love.

The Green Room Cafe 📍 200 W Main St, Plainfield, Indiana

Who doesn’t love a coffee to cocktails spot? The Green Room Cafe in Plainfield, Indiana is serving up lattes and pastries by morning, and martinis and flatbreads by night. They rotate their menu seasonally, but there is always a delicious flatbread pizza on the menu to try!

I hope you enjoy this Indianapolis pizza guide! If you didn’t see your favorite Indy pizza spot, let me know what I should try next by leaving a comment on this post or on my Instagram. If you have a recommendation for the best pizza in Indianapolis, I would LOVE to hear it!

  • Best Places for Solo Dates in Central Indiana

Best Places for Solo Dates in Central Indiana

Searching for things to do alone in Indianapolis? Well, put away the box of chocolates you got on clearance at CVS (or just save it for later) because you are going out, my friend! Here are some of the best places to take yourself on a solo date in Central Indiana.

I have personally dined at or visited these Indiana establishments alone, and I am a self-proclaimed introvert who used to break out in hives at the idea of going to a restaurant by herself. So, I promise it’s only awkward if you make it that way. These are places in Indiana that are welcoming, comfortable, and relaxed, so you can sit in peace with a good book or just with your own company. Because if you’re here, reading this, I know you are cool and you should want to hang out with yourself!

The key to going on a solo date is knowing that everyone else is so wrapped up in their own world and insecurities that they don’t really pay attention to you. It sounds harsh, but I promise that thought will break down the Spotlight Effect we all wrestle with and give you so much mental freedom. In fact, if you are worried about looking lame or lonely to onlookers, I’m here to personally tell you that the opposite is true. The reason I started getting out of my own way and going to places alone was because I once saw a girl reading a book at the bar of a restaurant I was at and thought, “Wow, she is so cool and confident. I want to do that one day.” Alas, here we are! Just a couple cool, confident Indiana baddies who want to enjoy their own company.

Hint: Click the locations below for video guides to each place!

Relax + Unwind at Something Splendid

    📍 217 Mill St, Westfield, Indiana 46074

This Westfield, Indiana hidden gem is a wine bar and gift shop all in one! I brought my Kindle, sat in their heated patio, and had myself a wonderful evening! They have some yummy food options as well, so you can grab a snack and possibly catch some live music while you’re here.

Make it a You-Day in Zionsville, IN

Order an Extra Sushi Roll at Noah Grant’s 📍 91 S Main St, Zionsville, Indiana 46077

Relax on the patio or bar area at this Zionsville seafood spot with a yummy cocktail, sushi roll, oysters (if that’s your thing), and more! They have an amazing happy hour menu, so if you have the whole day to yourself, as you should, Queen, visit from 4-5pm between Tuesday-Friday for $10 drinks, sushi rolls, and oyster specials!

Get some Retail Therapy at these Zionsville Shops 📍 N Main St, Zionsville, IN 46077

My Shopping Recommendations in Zionsville (though I obviously encourage you to explore the whole Main Street!) Southern Fancy, Vintage Charm, Zionsville Olive Oil, Black Dog Books, FiveThirty Home

Buy Yourself Flowers at Blooms by Dragonfly 📍 176 S Main St, Zionsville, IN 46077

Grab a vase before you leave the house, and Blooms by Dragonfly will fill it with fresh cut blooms that are sure to impress your date (yourself, obvi). They also have the cutest gifts for brides, babies, and more inside their shop!

Stay a While at a Local Coffee Shop

Tried, true, and solo date approved! These coffee shops in Indy have all the right vibes to get some work done, enjoy a good book, or just soak in the adorable decor while enjoying a seasonal latte. There’s plenty of seating, so you can pull up a chair, enjoy your own company, and grab a pastry (you deserve it!).

Milk & Honey Coffeehouse 📍 8505 Southeastern Ave, Indianapolis, Indiana 46239

Bovaconti 📍 2 W Main St, Carmel, Indiana 46032 (P.S. they also have a Fountain Square location!)

Parlor Public House 📍 600 E Ohio St Suite B, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202

Need other ideas for coffee shops in Indianapolis? Click here for a blog post on every local coffee shop I tried in 2025.

Treat Yourself to a Little Self-Care Day on Indy’s Northside

PUR Nail Spa 📍 350 Monon Blvd SUITE 14, Carmel, Indiana 46032 (P.S. They also have a Keystone location!)

If you’re looking for manicures, pedicures, and head spas in Indianapolis, let me introduce you to PUR Nail Spa. I also love that they give a welcome beverage while getting your treatment done. A little luxury never hurt anybody 😉

Le Nid Esthetics 📍 10992 Allisonville Office Dr, Fishers, Indiana 46038

Your skin called. It said it wants a facial with the best esthetician in Central Indiana. Wendy at Le Nid Esthetics is in Fishers, IN. If you’re looking to experience a little slice of heaven during your solo date day, then I cannot recommend Le Nid enough!

Create a Scent that’s all Yours at The Aroma Labs

    📍 850 Massachusetts Ave Suite 120, Indianapolis, Indiana 46204

Scents are sooooo personal. That’s why taking your time creating a candle, hand soap, or room spray at The Aroma Labs in the Bottleworks District would make the perfect solo date activity in Indianapolis. I created a signature perfume while I was here and I still wear it every day!

Take an Adult Dance Class at Dance Fam

    📍 468 Gradle Dr Suite 110, Carmel, Indiana 46032

Now, this one might seem intimidating, but it was seriously the most empowering thing I did for myself in 2025. I took Dance Fam’s Heels class where we brought our own pair of high heels and learned a burlesque-style dance to a Sabrina Carpenter song. I had a blast! Plus, I believe everyone in my class showed up alone, so it does make for a wonderful solo date night out in Carmel, IN. If heels aren’t your thing, they also have hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, and more!

Eat + Learn with a Charcuterie Tour at Smoking Goose

    📍 407 Dorman St, Indianapolis, Indiana 46202

This Indianapolis tour + tasting is a MUST-TRY! I linked the video I did for this in the title above, but I’m going to go ahead and put the link for tickets HERE too. Tickets are only $20 and include the tour, a charcuterie tasting, AND a package of meat to take home! They do this tour every Saturday (yes, including Valentine’s Day). I did this tour by myself a while back, and had such a great time!

I hope you enjoy this list of things to do alone in Central Indiana! If you are considering a solo date in Indianapolis this season, I would love to hear about it! Leave me a comment letting me know which Indy date you tried.

  • Galentine’s Day Ideas in Indianapolis + Central Indiana

Galentine’s Day Ideas in Indianapolis + Central Indiana

Get in, gals, we’re hitting the town! Here are some things you can do with your gal pals in the Indy area this Galentine’s Day. Because why should we leave all the February fun to the couples?

Friendship is everything. Our friends love us for us, and not for what we can offer to our companies or for how clean our house is. Our friends see us through so many phases of our lives—through all the turmoil and chaos, through the love and loss, through that weird haircut you had in 2016—and yet they choose to hang out with us! No obligations.

More than that, I truly believe female friendships are one of the most important things in a woman’s life because our friendships nurture the perspective we have about ourselves regardless of the labels society puts on us as women (employee, wife, mother, daughter, student). Our girls are there for us through breakups and babies, through wild nights and rough mornings, through promotions and layoffs. They are our shoulders to cry on and our partners in crime.

Galentine’s Day (February 13th) is the perfect moment to celebrate these female friendships. If you are in the Indy area, I hope you’ll take some time to call up your girl squad and get something on the calendar. I know we are very busy (because who runs the world? GIRLS!), but I’ve made it as easy as possible with a full list below of things you can do with your girlfriends this Galentine’s Day in Indianapolis.

“Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair minus the angst… Plus frittatas!” – Leslie Knope

Tea, and Brunch, and Thrifting, OH MY!

For the gals who are always down for brunch and thrifting, I want to take you a little west of Downtown Indy to Mooresville, IN. Click HERE for a video visual.

Start with brunch and tea service at The Parlor PS. I recommend sharing the Grand Breakfast Tower. It was perfection!

Then walk right next door for thrifting at Yellow Moon. There are so many unique vintage finds in here!

Let’s Go to the (Keystone) Mall

Going to the mall is so underrated lately. Especially with your girlfriends. Picture this: you and your friends having an early 2000s rom-com movie moment. Trying on pretty dresses and accessories. Telling each other “you should totally buy that.” And ending the entire spree with an Aperol Spritz. Here’s what I recommend:

Window Shopping at The Fashion Mall at Keystone: Some of my faves are Anthropologie, Crate & Barrel, Dry Goods, Kendra Scott, and any other store that strikes your fancy!

Napolese for Dinner: I tried the Aperol Spritz, Baked Goat Cheese, and Margherita Pizza, but your girls will love anything here!

Something sweet from Bissinger’s Handcrafted Chocolatier: Get the sea salt caramels – TRUST ME!

    Do it for the ‘Gram

If you’re looking for a sign to break out that dress you haven’t worn yet, here you go. Have you been to Restoration Hardware at The DeHaan Estate in Indy? This is a completely free place to visit and explore the latest pieces in the RH Gallery. There is a restaurant on site, but my favorite thing to do here is grab a glass of wine and explore the grounds. Get all dressed up with your gals and take pictures! You’ll want to remember this one.

RH Indianapolis 📍 4501 N Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46228

    Let’s EAT!

If you’re looking to keep it simple and just grab a meal with your Galentines, here are some brunch and dinner spots I recommend in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas that have all the cute, girly vibes!

Brunch: RIZE, Three Dolls, The Green Room, Rejoicing Vine, Borage

Dinner: Hanami, Baby’s, divvy, Cake Bake, Matador

    For your Crafty Gals

If you and your friends are in the mood to get crafty, I recommend one of these local candle-making spots in Indianapolis, or hitting up one of the Indy Winter Farmers Markets to get baking! The farmers markets usually have some DIY bread-making pouches, elixir kits, and even yarn/knitting goodies!

Candle Making – Unplug, Penn and Beech

Winter Farmers Markets: The AMP, Broad Ripple, Carmel. More details about each market can be found here.

    A Toast to Friendship

Raise a glass to girlhood! Here are some of my favorite places to do a wine tasting in Indianapolis with my girlfriends:

Buck Creek Winery + Brandywine Creek – These are great because you can hit two Indiana wineries in one go! These are very close together, so you can Uber or ask one of the ladies’ lovely husbands to be a chauffeur 😉

BONUS: Check and see if the Veal’s Ice Tree is up and running while you’re out. This is an Indiana hidden wonder you have to see in the winter!

Other places for wine tastings: Daniel’s Vineyard, Urban Vines, Peace Water

Hug your girls tight, Indy! Love, your Galentine, Sondra 💋
